ADULT PROGRAM
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
In order to matriculate, an applicant must be certified or licensed in psychology, social work, psychiatry or psychiatric nursing, or working toward such credentials.
The applicant will also be evaluated as to whether he or she meets the guidelines: emotional maturity, a capacity for an inner focus and an awareness of inner processes, curiosity and interest in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, capacities for self-reflection, observation and empathy, and an ability to tolerate anxiety, ambiguity and differences.

Personal interviews are arranged once application materials have been received and reviewed.
MITPP accepts applications all year round. Prospective students are encouraged to apply
as early as possible in order to allow sufficient time for processing.
Applicants generally begin training in the fall semester, but spring semester admission
is also an option.

PROGRAM OPTIONS
MENTORS Mentors will be available to students who wish to begin writing professionally.
Mentors may help students with any or all of the following: to clarify ideas, to
formulate thinking, to critique drafts of papers, to help students polish final drafts
for publications. Students may initiate requests to consult with an MITPP Mentor by
contacting the Director.
The Adult Program may be entered on a full-time, part-time, or
non-matriculation basis. Full-time students carry three (3) courses, eight (8)
patient
hours, attend individual and group supervision and personal
psychotherapy/psychoanalysis. Part-time students carry one (1) or two (2)
courses, five (5) patient
hours, attend individual and group supervision and personal psychotherapy/
psychoanalysis. Non-matriculants take courses only. They may select from any
course offered in the first year sequence, for which full credit will be given
when the student matriculates.
A student may change from one status to another with the permission of the
Director.*
* All variations in the course of study are subject to the approval of
the Director.
